The hearts of fashion addicts will tumble - Chic, innovative and resolutely glam, Maison Lesage blows out its hundredth candle with thefree exhibition "Lesage, 100 years of fashion and decoration", from September 26 to January 5, 2024. Founded in 1924 by Albert and Marie-Louise Lesage, the famous embroidery and weaving workshop (tweed) is unveiled in an unmissable retrospective, deployed in the Galerie du 19M, the arty space of the Manufacture de Mode Chanel.
Discover the soul of Lesage through a journey highlighting spectacular creations created for the most prestigious Haute Couture houses. Each piece, combining technical virtuosity and stylistic innovation, is an ode to the art of embroidery, whose techniques, gestures and creative stages will be presented throughout the exhibition. The scenography invites you to explore behind-the-scenes of this legendary house through immersive installations: sound capsules, videos and projections.
The highlight of the show? Murmuration, a monumental work conceived in collaboration with artist Aristide Barraud. The work depicts a swarm of starlings in flight, symbolizing collective harmony through embroidery on several panels of organza. After an international tour, this unique piece returns to Paris, at the heart of the exhibition. For the occasion, 19M invites you to take part in free embroidery workshops to leave your mark on this collective work of art, under the expert eye of Lesage artisans.
As usual, the Galerie doesn't just show, it involves! With hands-on workshops (embroidery, weaving), performances and much more, this anniversary season celebrates transmission and innovation, with a particular focus on younger generations.
