France's national holiday, the Fête Nationale, is a must-attendsummer event in France. Every year, as July 14 approaches, the country celebrates the Bastille Day holiday, which commemorates the storming of the Bastille, a key milestone in the French Revolution. In Paris, the day is marked by a traditional military parade down the Champs Elysées (exceptionally moved this year), and an emblematic fireworks display from the Eiffel Tower.
The rest of the Paris region is also getting in on the act, with the communes of the Île-de-France region unveiling their festive programs, featuring firework displays, family entertainment, concerts, XXL picnics, military parades and fire department balls.
The festivities take place between July 13 and 14, and offer everyone the chance to find an idea for an outing close to home, or to discover some of the towns in the Île-de-France region and their heritage. If you're looking for a plan on the side ofthe Yvelines, this time we're taking you to discover the program awaiting you in the town of Trappes.
