The origins of the Firefighters' Ball in Paris date back to 1937, initiated by Sergeant Cournet who opened the doors of the Montmartre fire station to strengthen ties between firefighters and local communities, while raising funds for the rescue services. Since then, this tradition has been perpetuated and has become an eagerly awaited event every year.
