Fête Nationale 2024 in Mantes-la-Jolie (78): Picnic, lanterns and fireworks on July 13

Did you know? The town of Mante-la-Jolie has been the holiday resort of several French kings. Its name was given by Henri IV, who wrote to his mistress Gabrielle d'Estrées: " Je suis à Mantes, ma jolie " (" I'm in Mantes, my pretty one "). Pretty cute, isn't it? The town's strategic geographical position and crossroads between waterways and land routes also made it a hub of trade and commerce.

Every year, Mantes-la-Jolie hosts a fireworks display on the banks of the Seine, starting with a picnic in the Square Brieussel-Bourgeois. It's an opportunity for families and friends to get together and enjoy the sounds of the brass band. The evening continues with the traditional fireworks display on the Seine, but before that, a lantern-lit retreat is organized!

Once again this year, the many festivities will be held on July 13, 2024, not July 14. Make sure you don't get the wrong date!

Meet at Brieussel-Bourgeois Square

• From 8pm: picnic to the sound of a guinguette
• 8:30pm: Twirling baton demonstration by Twirls Academy
• 9:30pm: concert by Barrio Libre
• 9:30 pm to 10:30 pm: distribution of lanterns
• 10:30 pm to 11 pm: stroll to the banks of the Seine with the Drumteam Bords de Seine batucada
• 11pm: fireworks (from the banks of the Seine)
