Facing an even greater coronavirus pandemic, the city of Paris and the French government are setting up every measure possible to limit the risks of contagion in Île-de-France. And it involves health instructions and recommendations to follow. Let’s not forget it: we’re all involved.

In Paris, facing coronavirus, every little detail count. While covid-19 also known as coronavirus gains a little big of ground every day in Paris and in 50 countries in the world, the city of Paris and the French authorities ask the population to observe health instructions in order to limit contagion risks.

To answer all the questions we may have facing such a threat as badly identified as this one, the government set up an informative website, https://www.gouvernement.fr/info-coronavirus. And to limit infections, the first essential gestures may seem obvious, but let’s remind you of them, it’s always useful.

Essential gestures to avert coronavirus:

  • Wash your hands regularly.
  • Cough or sneeze in the crease of your elbow.
  • Use disposable tissues.
  • Wear a facemask if you’re sick.

Today, the government has announced no counterargument against public transport. If you’re ill, wearing a face mask stays the best solution. And even though it’s not very comfortable, health prevails! Moreover, the Secretary of Health recommends the good gestures to keep in order to protect your health, especially if you travel from China, Singapore, South Korea, Iran or regions from northern Italy, highly impacted too.

Instructions to observe (at least 14 days following your return for travelers):

  • Take your temperature at least twice a day
  • Check any respiratory symptoms (coughing, trouble breathing…)
  • Wear a face mask if you’re talking to someone or if you have to go out
  • Wash your hands regularly or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
  • Avoid any contact with fragile people (pregnant women, chronically sick people, old persons…)
  • Avoid places with fragile people (hospital, maternity wards, houses for old people…)
  • Avoid any non-obligatory trip (big gatherings, restaurants, movie theaters…)
  • Workers/students: as much as possible, favor remote working and avoid close contacts (meetings, lifts, cafeterias…)
  • Children, junior high school students and high school students should not go to daycare, school or high school because of how difficult it could be to wear a facemask all day

In the same time, the City of Paris has declared anticipated the settlement of preventive measures against the pandemic. All public kindergartens, schools and junior high schools have face masks available. Inside, hygiene recommendations are regularly shared and the procedure to set up in case of suspicion. Moreover, a systematic exclusion process in daycares and activity clubs for children coming back from China is set up.
You’re highly recommended not to go to gyms in town if you come back from China and not to take part in adults’ municipal meetings.

As for instructions in case of respiratory infection, here’s a little memo of what to do: call 15 for the paramedics and tell them about your symptoms and recent stay, avoid any contact with your entourage and wear a face mask. Last but not least, don’t go to a doctor or the ER to avoid any possible infection.
