Government spokesman Gabriel Attal addressed the demonstrations against the health pass and compulsory vaccination held this past July 17 in France in Le Parisien. He says antivax are “a very hot-headed and defeatist fringe, in minority, who would gladly do with chaos and inactivity”.

As this past July 12 Emmanuel Macron announced the implementation of compulsory health pass in many cultural places, but not only, many protests took place in France this Saturday July 17, 2021 against the health pass and compulsory vaccination.

In an interview with Le Parisien, Gabriel Attal addressed these events and stands up for the decisions made by the French President. “We must be clear: now, it is whether general vaccination or viral tsunami, there is no alternative”, the government spokesman says.

According to Gabriel Attal, protests against the health pass and compulsory vaccination show a dichotomy between two Frances: a “laborious and voluntarist France wanting to put the virus behind and work” and a “hot-headed and defeatist fringe, in minority, who would gladly do with chaos and inactivity”, the antivax.

The government spokesman invites then “each of the 37 million vaccinees” to convince those who “are still hesitating to get vaccinated”. He adds: “We do not want to put non-vaccinees’ choice on the shoulders of the vaccinees”.

Moreover, still in Le Parisien, Attal stood up for compulsory 10-day self-isolation period for people tested positive. “Today, a police control system exists for people coming from ‘red’ countries, although they are negative, with a €1,000-fine if they do not comply with their isolation period. Extending it to positive cases found in France makes good sense”.
