For this year's Journées du Patrimoine, the Musée Guimet is offering a tour of its collections and theHôtel Heidelbach on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, 2024.
The Hôtel Heidelbach, a sublime building constructed between 1913 and 1915 for the Heidelbach couple and located 150 meters from the Musée Guimet, is both a place where collections of Chinese furniture are presented to visitors and a place dedicated to relaxation. Its garden, which reopened in spring 2018, is home to a tea pavilion, which can also be admired during these Heritage Days.

From Afghanistan to Japan, commercial, artistic and religious exchanges have shaped the material and spiritual life of the various countries of Asia. Precious objects found near Kabul, Chinese funerary figurines and Tibetan sacred objects all attest to the intensity and diversity of these exchanges.
Hotel d'Heidelbach
The bright, open garden, created in 2018 by architects Agnès Latour-Kurashige and Jean-Sébastien Cluzel, is home to an authentic tea house (chashitsu), donated by Japan in 2001, designed by architect Nakamura Masao and built by the finest craftsmen from the Land of the Rising Sun. Its architecture is an ideal of peace and modesty, as well as an example of extreme refinement in the choice of the various woods used. Access to the tea pavilion is via a small pathway lined with stone steps, dwarf bamboo, moss, horsetail, ferns, cherry trees, a lantern and a basin, as a preamble to the rituals of the tea ceremony.
