On September 22, 2024, young and old alike will be treated to a puppet show at the heart of the Musée Guimet, based on the White Monkey, a key figure in Chinese culture!

On September 22, 2024 at 3pm, the Musée Guimet invitesyou to immerse yourself in an important part of Chinese culture, during a musical puppet show. While France has its own Guignol, Chinese children grow up with the White Monkey, a character far from heroic, whimsical and pretentious, whose incredible adventures you can discover with your family, alongside the Dragon King!

Despite his unsavory behavior, the White Monkey is a much-loved protagonist in China, thanks to his humor and cunning! His arrogance often gets him into trouble, as he has to face up to stronger opponents than himself, but he remains admired as a master of the art of metamorphosis, and Buddha himself presided over his birth. So even the King of the Underworld and the Dragon King are no match for him!

In this puppet theater, Jean-Luc Penso pays tribute to the technique of Master Li Tien Lu, one of Taiwan's last great puppet masters, from whom he learned the discipline. A not-to-be-missed show for young and old alike!
