For the 38th edition of European Heritage Days, we propose you to score baskets in the oldest basket venue in the world. How about that? If you fancy so, head to the YMCA Union student residence in Paris on September 18 and 19, 2021.

Michael Jordan fans can go and score baskets in the world's oldest basketball hall. For the 38th edition of European Heritage Days, the UCJG association’s gymnasium, the YMCA Union de Paris  opens to the public.

This is here than in 1893 the first basketball game in Europe took place. Meet in Paris 9th arrondissement on September 18 and 19, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to enter these fantastic sport facilities.

For European Heritage Days, the Paris YMCA offers us a session of dribbles and baskets in this iconic basketball venue (the activity is subject to cancelation due to the health situation). Members of the association will also be there for the weekend to tell you the rich story of this building and answer all your questions!

This high place of sport in Paris - listed as historic monument - shows in its architecture the holistic approach in the very core of the YMCA programs: favoring balance on intellectual, spiritual and physical levels, said necessary for a human being's fulfillment.

For the record, the gym has been used as Eddy de Pretto's Normal videoclip background. Fans of the artist can have fun recreating their favorite music video while visiting this historic place.

For the story, YMCA Union Paris is a student residence and an activity center inaugurated in 1893. This gymnasium shows with its architecture “the innovative teaching skills of the YMCA in the fields related to the body, the soul and the spirit” in order to “favor the social insertion and the thriving of the young people”. A sport center also listed as historic monument for “the originality and rarity of the program of this social, teaching and sport premise inspired by the YMCA’s American models”.
