Looking for an exclusive experience for European Heritage Days 2021 in Paris? How about visiting the Musée d'Ennery? Nestled within a hotel particulier, a stone’s throw from the Arc de Triomphe, this museum is very little-known by Parisians and yet, it houses a private collection of treasures from the Far East. Meet on Saturday September 18, 2021 for a one-hour-long guided tour, that is obviously free of charge! Yet, you must book by emailing resa@guimet.fr
Clémence d’Ennery has had this magnificent hotel particulier built in 1875 to house her collection of works from the Far East. Genuine cabinet of curiosities and art, this is the perfect setting highlighting the jewels of this collection.
Forerunner, Clémence d’Ennery builds her collection before Japanism even trends. As a matter of fact, in the late 19th century, the taste for the Far East spreads like wildfire, and Europe is singing from the same hymn sheet than Asian art.
In this wonderful place, discover a collection of an astounding richness, mainly based on Chinese and Japanese, small or medium-sized pieces. Fantastic beasts, chimeras, figurines, little statues, masks, rub shoulder with 2,500 netsuke (Japanese miniatures that were used to hold the lace of the sagemono). There are 7,000 pieces!
Thus, meet at the Musée d’Ennery in Paris 16th arrondissement for an exclusive tour of this breathtaking collection.
So, are you ready to discover this little-known gem?
