For the 39th edition of European Heritage Days, go and visit the Church of Saint-Laurent in Paris 10th arrondissement! Made of flamboyant gothic style, this church set boulevard Magenta is one to be seen. And yet, not many Parisians have visited it. Let us make the most of European Heritage Days since they are made for this! And, the Church of Saint-Laurent has prepared a fantastic program for September 17 and 18, 2022, so, save your afternoon from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
On the menu, a guided tour of the building. Choir, Notre-Dame des Malades chapel, keystones, or even painting and stained-glass window imagery... A great journey through the centuries, from the 15th to the 21st, you do not want to miss! And a great occasion to discover this gorgeous church built on the North-South axis of the city, on a former Roman road linking Senlis to Orléans. Founded at the end of the 5th century, the church was set outside the city, by a monastery.
Under the Second Empire, after the opening of Boulevards de Magenta and Strasbourg, the church was extended with a span and the façade destroyed and built again between 1863 and 1867, in a neo-gothic style by architect Simon-Claude Constant-Dufeux. A pedmient made of enameled lava is added in 1870, by Paul Balze.
Discovering the hidden treasures in town is the very purpose of the European Heritage Days. And visiting the Church of Saint-Laurent is a lovely family-outing to schedule. And of course, it is free of charge! Meet on September 17 and 18, 2022, for an afternoon likely to make you see the neighborhood in a spiritual light!
