Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are a much-anticipated cultural event throughout Europe. This flagship event of the autumn season gives us a rare opportunity to visit the finest treasures of our heritage, often in an unprecedented way. Every year, museums, monuments and castles join in the fun with a program packed with free good deals and unusual events.
Each edition also invites us to push open the doors of places usually closed to the public! As you can see, missing out is out of the question! See you on the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024 for the next Journées du Patrimoine in Paris and the Île-de-France region.
Looking for a cultural tip in the heart of Montmartre? This picturesque village-district is a real favorite with Parisians both young and old, with its distinctive atmosphere and numerous curiosities. And what better way to soak up the Montmartre vibe than at the Musée de Montmartre and its Renoir gardens? It's a good thing that this spot, which immerses us in the history of this historic district, is unveiling its program for the Journées du Patrimoine in Paris.
In this exhibition-file, you'll discover the whimsical and exotic sporting events that have enlivened the neighborhood, from the introduction of Jiu-jitsu at the Hippodrome to the Olympiads of the Commune Libre de Montmartre. In this unique district, sport was synonymous with attraction, spectacle and often humor. A guide-lecturer accompanies you on this discovery!
You can take this guided tour at any time of your choosing, provided you have museum admission (at a charge).
The Musée de Montmartre offers an insight into the history of Montmartre and the collections of the history and archaeology association Le Vieux Montmartre. The studios at 12-14 rue Cortot were the meeting place and residence of many artists: Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Raoul Dufy and Suzanne Valadon, Maurice Utrillo and André Utter, nicknamed "the infernal trio". The tour, guided by Jean-Manuel Gabert, President of Vieux Montmartre, will trace the history of this unique place, imbued with the soul of these personalities, and introduce you to the museum's collections.
When booking, select "GUIDED TOUR TICKET / FREE - EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS / SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 22", limited to 30 participants.
For the curious, there's a chance to visit part of the Vieux Montmartre archives, brimming with historical and unusual treasures. Find out how archives work and how they are preserved.
