Journées du Patrimoine 2024: discover Paris's covered passageways and galleries

Located in the heart of the capital, the covered passages and galleries form a maze of secret streets, which we invite you to discover on September 21 and 22, 2024, during the Journées du Patrimoine.

From Paris's 1st arrondissement to the Grands Boulevards, the covered passageways and shopping galleries take us into a parallel world, allowing us to explore the capital's right bank in a whole new light. Most of these passages were built in the 19th century, in the commercial districts of Paris where wealthy customers liked to stroll.

These covered streets and galleries are home to many original boutiques, art galleries and museums, restaurants, cafés and various curiosities that make these passages exciting sightseeing tours.

Antiques, Art Deco, "Little India", fashion: each passage has its own particularity, its own identity that makes it so special. Sometimes hidden away, these galleries are easily overlooked by the uninitiated. So take every opportunity to (re)discover them!

    The "Passages et Galeries" association organizes free guided tours of Paris's covered passageways.
    3 tours are offered to discover these secret places:
    - La Vie parisienne
    - Paris et ses grands boulevards
    - Historic Paris
