Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are an opportunity to discover all the little nuggets hidden away in our beautiful capital. In addition to the well-known museums and institutions that open their doors free of charge, there are a whole host of hidden gems to discover over the weekend of September 16 and 17, 2023. With guided tours, walks and workshops, you'll be able to explore little-known Paris in good company!
Just off the Parc Monceau, a private mansion houses one of the capital's most discreet museums: the Pharmacy Museum! Built by Gaston Menier, grandson of the founder of drogueries pharmaceutiques and later of Chocolats Menier, the building now houses theOrdre national des pharmaciens, as well as a gallery of instruments used at the time, in a small museum well worth the detour. A therapeutic arsenal of 755 jars is still on display, with substances that were supposed to cure diseases, but which we can scarcely imagine being used today!
The architecture of the mansion is exceptional, with a beautiful Norman-Moorish pavilion, the only one of its kind in the capital. And let's not forget the period staircase, with its black woodwork and shimmering mosaics depicting the gods of Olympus.
