Thanks to creative tourism agency Parisi Tour, rediscover Montmartre aboard a Citroën 2CV for the Journées du Patrimoine 2024! Montmartre, the bohemian jewel of Paris, has always danced to the rhythm of creativity. In the 19th century, artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec painted the soul of Montmartre in its cobbled streets, and cabarets such as the legendary Moulin Rouge set the night ablaze with frenzied dances adorned with flamboyant feathers. Picasso, Apollinaire and many others found inspiration here. Today, the district still exudes this artistic energy, reminding all lovers of life that art and celebration are inscribed within its picturesque walls.
Wolves in Montmartre? Yes, Apaches!
At the beginning of the 20th century, gangs of thugs nicknamed "Apaches" were rampant throughout Paris. These bandits owed their name to the supposed cruelty of the American Indians. There's a gang for every neighborhood: in Montmartre, it's the "Loups de la Butte". There are also the "Marlous de Belleville", the "Monte-en-l'air des Batignolles" and the "Cœurs d'acier" from Saint-Ouen.
Waxed shoes, cap, scarf around the neck, the Apaches terrorize as much as they fascinate Paris. Who are these bad boys based in the Montmartre maquis? How do they live? What are their habits?
Aboard our time-travelling car - the eternal Citroën 2CV, follow in the footsteps of "Bébert le Costo", "Nib de blair", "L'Enfant gras" and "Charlotte la grêlée". You'll discover where the Loups de la Butte live, party and, of course, commit crimes.
Tours last between 30 and 45 minutes, with a maximum of three passengers per vehicle, and depart from rue du Chevalier de la Barre (behind the Sacré Cœur).
