Do you know the Cité internationale des Arts ? This charitable foundation welcomes numerous artists throughout the year, enabling them to create, imagine and exhibit their work, at the gateway to Paris's Marais district. Its occupants are already transforming the site into an exciting world for art lovers... But the history of this special place is just as interesting!
The idea for the Cité Internationale des Arts was born in 1937, during the Paris International Exhibition. It was Finnish artist Eero Snellman who proposed the creation of this artistic venue, during a speech. After the Second World War, the idea gained ground, and in 1965, the Cité officially opened its doors. To find out all about this fascinating place, and discover the artists currently residing there, take advantage of the Journées du Patrimoine!
This cultural event returns to Paris on September 16 and 17, 2023. To mark the occasion, the Cité internationale des Arts is opening its doors to visitors free of charge. For this 40th edition, new installations and performances are on offer to the public. Come and enjoy this unique venue.
