Not far from the Butte Montmartre lies a veritable artists' city, the largest in Europe! During the Journées du Patrimoine 2024 (Heritage Days 2024), we're off to discover this amazing and inspiring place, in the heart of the 18th arrondissement of Paris, this weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024.

Do you like to stroll around the capital and discover the different architectural styles that line its streets? On September 21 and 22, 2024, during the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), we're taking advantage of the weekend to enter these magnificent eye-catching buildings and learn more about their history! Which French treasure will you choose to explore? Between museums, churches, historic monuments, libraries and so many others, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to taking part in free tours and events!

Why not stay in Paris, in the 18th arrondissement? Just a few flights of steps from Montmartre stands an absolutely sublime Art Deco facade, but it's not a museum! It's the Cité Montmartre-aux-artistes, built in the 1930s and home to 180 studio apartments, making it the largest artists' housing estate in Europe. It was created to combat the real-estate operations that were driving away Montmartre's artists, and to house those of modest means so that they could work there.

This is still the case today, and many art forms are represented: visual artists, musicians, actors, writers, film-makers, video-makers, photographers... including Romain Goupil, who grew up here, with a grandfather who was a chansonnier and a grandmother who was an actress. While the red ochre brick facade opens onto a large mosaic-clad hall with three arched gates made of wrought iron and stained glass, the walls inside the courtyard are completely white! The JEP are a great opportunity to discover them, since you can't see them from the outside!
