Just a stone's throw from the Luxembourg Gardens, in the heart of the Latin Quarter, the Faculty of Pharmacy trains several thousand students in pharmaceutical research. The school is housed in centuries-old historic buildings, which have preserved traces of their rich past. A blend of art, history and science, the Faculté de Pharmacie is sure to surprise many.
Why not take advantage of the Journées du Patrimoine to visit this site in the 6th arrondissement? Like every year, this major cultural event gives us the opportunity to push open the doors of important official buildings. Ministries, castles, workshops, museums, places of worship or behind the scenes of major institutions, many historic or artistic sites are revealed to the general public over the course of a weekend.
The next date is September 21, 2024, when the Paris School of Pharmacy will be hosting a variety of free events for young and old to discover its rich history.
Please note that these activities are available by reservation only: register in advance to make sure you don't miss out on these exceptional visits.
At the heart of the Faculty of Pharmacy in Paris, visitors find themselves immersed in a fascinating quest through historical archives and sites that open their doors for a day. A half-faded piece of parchment dating back to its construction in 1882 was revealed to the general public. This parchment contains an incomplete formula...
You'll find several word clues along the way. The more riddles you solve, the closer you'll get to the secret of the formula.
If you fail to find the formula in less than 30 minutes, the secret of the parchment will be lost forever.
Guided tour of the prestigious hall d'honneur, decorated with paintings on the theme of pharmaceutical art, and of the Faculty's botanical garden.
Originally twice the size of today's garden, the botanical garden of the Paris Faculty of Pharmacy is one of the city's protected green spaces. Established by Adolphe Chatain, professor of botany, in 1881, the garden was subsequently redesigned by Léon Guignard, an important figure in modern botany.
The garden is made up of trees and flowerbeds designed for teaching botany and pharmacognosy, growing plant species for research or simply for ornamental purposes.
The garden is divided into different zones: toxic plants, aquatic plants, conifers... not forgetting the beautiful 19th-century greenhouses.
Guided tour of the prestigious Salle des Actes, featuring 90 portraits of master apothecaries and a collection of 18th-century medicine jars.
Have a wonderful cultural weekend in Paris!
