Calling all curious art and history enthusiasts: one of the most eagerly awaited cultural events of the autumn season is back in the Paris region! On the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) will offer you an exceptional program of visits, often free of charge, and original events at some of the finest treasures of our heritage. Numerous cultural venues will be taking part: monuments, museums, churches, institutions, gardens and even places that are usually closed to the public!
In Paris and the Île-de-France region, we're preparing a supercharged program. While the capital is usually the epicenter of this type of event, the Journées du Patrimoine are also an opportunity to explore the lesser-known heritage of the Ile-de-France region. Located on the outskirts of Paris and just a metro ride away, the town of Issy-les-Moulineaux, in the Hauts-de-Seine, is one of those places steeped in history that's well worth a visit, thanks to its extensive program of tours and events. So, would you like to discover the treasures of Paris' inner suburbs? Find out more about the events scheduled for this 41st edition.

Heritage Days 2024 at the French Church's national archive center in Issy-les-Moulineaux
The National Catholic Federation (FNC) will be the subject of a special exhibition featuring a wealth of archive material. The movement celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2024.
The centenary of the Fédération nationale catholique (FNC), founded in 1924 by General Édouard de Castelnau, and the upcoming fiftieth anniversary of Vivre ensemble l'Évangile aujourd'hui (VEA) - its current form since 1976 - provide a double opportunity for a retrospective on the movement's history. From the original desire to defend Catholicism to General Catholic Action, the movement has reinvented itself to best meet the aspirations of Catholics and the Church hierarchy.
The result of a partnership between the Centre national des archives de l'Église de France (CNAEF) and VEA, this exhibition aims to shed light on and retrace the life of this lay movement. A major Catholic and political formation between the two world wars, from 1945 onwards it focused on the evangelization of society, and now, with VEA, insists on its members living together.
Finally, as every year, issues of the Coeurs vaillants and Âmes vaillantes newspapers will be on display and available for consultation.
Tours of the archive stores will be offered to visitors every half hour or so. They will be able to wander through the archive stores usually closed to the public. The tours will be led by the archivists themselves.
Visitors will learn about the contemporary archives of the Catholic Church in France and how the archivists work. Archives will be on display and shown during the tour.
Visit the Archives and the exhibition commemorating 50 years of presence in Issy-les-Moulineaux, in partnership with Historim.

In the company of your guide, you'll discover the fascinating history of the Fort, the Ichikawa Japanese garden, the Aquazena swimming pool, "Le Temps des Cerises", Christian Renonciat's Mockingbird, the 300-tree fruit orchard...
For centuries, the village of Issy and the hamlet of Moulineaux remained essentially agricultural, hosting vineyards and mills, as well as chalk pits.
In 1681, avocat général Denis Talon had a château built by Pierre Bullet and gardens designed by André Le Nôtre.
Later, the Conti family embellished the château, which was unfortunately destroyed in 1871 during the fighting of the Commune.
Remaining the property of the army until 2009, the fort was then purchased by the commune of Issy, which transformed it into an eco-neighborhood housing 17 buildings on a 12-hectare site.

Heritage Days 2024 at Issy-les-Moulineaux Town Hall
Issy Tourisme International invites you to take an unexpected stroll through its 3-part "Histoire de Voyages" exhibition. Through time, with the Valérie André Heliport; through Europe, with cyclists on their way to Weiden; and finally, through the fields, to meet the ecosystem of the airport meadows...
Journey through time
First a military maneuvering ground, then the scene of various aeronautical experiments, follow the extraordinary history of what was to become the Valérie André Heliport. Between setbacks and successes, a veritable industry was born and established in Issy-les-Moulineaux. Business in Issy-les-Moulineaux reached its peak during the First World War, with a large-scale production of airplanes. The last one took off in 1970, but the site remains a major public service asset, notably for air traffic control, medical transport, military operations and the management of major events. It's a heritage steeped in history, and one to which the city and the aeronautical industry remain very attached.
Friendship trip
To mark the 70th anniversary of the twinning with the German town of Weiden, 5 people from Issy-les-Moulineaux and 5 from Weiden followed the cycle paths from Issy-les-Moulineaux to Weiden last June. Each day, the group shared a little of their daily lives on Facebook and Instagram (@issytourismeinternational). Whether you've been following their journey on social networks or not, come and (re)discover this beautiful human and sporting adventure in large format.
Journey to the prairies
In airports, airfields and heliports, wildlife is not limited to large metal birds. Other birds and animals of all sizes enjoy these protected areas. Wild flora and fauna, some of them endangered on a Western European scale, find a comfortable refuge here. The mission of the Aérobiodiversité association is to assess and protect the biodiversity of airport sites, including the Valérie André Heliport. Several protocols, particularly nocturnal ones, are used to survey the numerous animal and plant species. This diversity, often overlooked, illustrates the richness and complexity of these ecosystems, right before our eyes. From the very large to the very small, this exhibition is like a 3-beat waltz, reflecting the diversity of our heritage of routes, networks and connections.
