The 41st edition of the Journées du Patrimoine in Paris will open the doors of some of the most beautiful monuments in Paris, as well as some of the best-kept secret places, such as artisans' workshops, usually closed to the public. A free cultural event not to be missed this autumn!

You've been waiting for them, here they are again! The Journées du Patrimoine are back on September 21 and 22, 2024, to blow your mind! This not-to-be-missed cultural event immerses you in the historic heart of Paris and the surrounding area, with privileged, free access to emblematic museums, monuments, châteaux and institutions. The emphasis is also on unusual or hidden addresses, such as the workshops of art artisans, usually closed to the public.

To mark the Journées du Patrimoine 2024, the Ateliers Brugier are opening their doors on Friday, September 20 for 2 free tours, subject to prior reservation, inviting visitors on an epic journey through the world of lacquerware since their creation in 1920 by André Brugier. Today, this emblematic workshop continues to shine in Paris, with expertise handed down through three generations. Specialist lacquerers, antique dealers and restorers, the Brugiers stand out for their precious collection of Asian lacquers, as well as their prestigious restorations for the Louvre, Musée Guimet and Versailles. From Louis XV commodes to collaborations with contemporary designers, their unique expertise reveals the depth and beauty of this ancient technique, making Ateliers Brugier a pillar of the decorative arts.

  • Lacquer: a journey through time and space.
    Friday, September 20, 11:00 am, 2:30 pm

    This one-hour visit to a lacquer workshop in Paris, established over a hundred years ago, will take you on a voyage through time and across the oceans!
    You'll gain a better understanding of how the work of art craftsmen, from Asia to Europe in our case, contributes to connecting people through the mastery of materials and the beauty they bring to life.
