It's the return of September's best deal, the one you just can't pass up. The Journées du Patrimoine return to Paris and the Île-de-France region on September 21 and 22, 2024. This annual cultural event enables the general public to visit - often free of charge - thousands of sites throughout the region. Museums, monuments, castles, ministries, churches, department stores, railway stations and stations, workshops, gardens and sports venues all organize events and walks to help us discover their history and special features.
This great celebration of culture allows us to better appreciate the treasures to be found close to home, sometimes without us even knowing it! So, don't miss the Journées du Patrimoine in Île-de-France.
If you live in the Seine-et-Marne region , why not pay a visit to Thomery: the Château de Rosa Bonheur awaits you , with events and tours for the whole family.
Take this opportunity to admire the animal painter's château and studio, and enjoy the natural surroundings of the large park that surrounds the monument. Rosa Bonheur and her works are revealed during your visit, in a timeless, bucolic setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
During a half-hour guided walk in the park of the Château de Rosa Bonheur, you'll plunge into the world and intimacy of two great masters of painting and sculpture, linked by a common passion: animals.
Although they evolved in totally different eras and each developed a unique style, their paths and approaches share striking similarities.
Fascinated by animals since childhood, they depicted them as soon as they were able to hold a pencil. For them, drawing is the basis of all creation. Tireless workers, they have always put their work back on the drawing board, without listening to critics or worrying about trends. For them, the animal is not an object, but the main subject. Never aggressive, it seems to be captured in the intimacy of its daily life.
After hours of observation and meticulous study of the skeleton and muscles to avoid any anatomical errors, they immortalized it in the calm of their studio, far from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. What they sought to render went far beyond the animal's "envelope", and they attempted to capture its "essence". For Rosa BONHEUR, it was a question of transcribing its soul, for Michel BASSOMPIERRE, its spirit.
Stroll between Michel BASSOMPIERRE's monumental sculptures and Rosa Bonheur's country workshop.
