In September, it's the turn of Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), the flagship event inviting us to explore our treasures through a wide range of activities. Over the course of a weekend, the general public is invited to enjoy a wide range of visits, including exceptional openings at fascinating sites. These are often coupled with special events, and the range of activities on offer in Paris and the Ile-de-France region is so vast that the Journées du Patrimoine is a great opportunity to discover all our passions. So, are you looking for an idea for this 41st edition?
Here's your chance to rediscover one of Paris's airports:Paris-Orly airport, straddling theEssonne and Val-de-Marne departments. On the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024, it invites us to experience a special program for the occasion. France's second-largest airport after Paris Charles-de-Gaulle, Orly is located in the area once associated with Port-Aviation, the world's first organized airfield, inaugurated in 1909.
In 1918, the year Port-Aviation closed, theOrly airport project began to emerge, with the Orly - Villeneuve air camp set up on land requisitioned by the Ministry of War. Two wars later, the site was expanded and adapted to suit changing needs and times, before becoming what it is today.

The actors twirl around and take visitors on a journey through time, from the creation of the terminal to the present day, playfully synthesizing historical, architectural, cinematographic and anecdotal knowledge linked to the terminal.

1961. The new glass-and-steel terminal, which spans the Nationale 7 motorway and presents motorists coming from Paris with a 200-metre blue-and-yellow glass façade, strikes people with its resolutely modern architecture. The airport immediately became France's most visited landmark. Orly's terraces, sung by Bécaud, were part of the decor of 60s France, which aspired to modernity....
This conference will take you back to that glorious era, and show how this emblematic building of the "Trente Glorieuses" is a major part of the Paris region's heritage.
