On February 18, 2019 Paris will unveil its first green raft on the canal Saint Martin allowing to boost the canal biodiversity as well as to improve the ecological operating.

The City of Paris keeps on changing things positively to protect the biodiversity in the French capital.

Indeed, on February 18, 2019 the day before the Justice4Climate conference and the Women4Climate event held at the city hall, the city of Paris inaugurates its very first green raft on the Canal Saint Martin, a genuine shelter for the Parisian nature.

But what is a green raft exactly and most of all, what is it for? Made of recycled and reusable materials, this 40-sqm small floating island houses about 620 plants coming from Ile de France.

It allows to revegetate the canal banks and boost the biodiversity inside and out of the water and improve the canal ecological operating: some plants have been indeed selected for their potential to get rid of or to stock the micropolluants present in the water.

A great project enabling to reinforce a little bit more the vegetable reinforcement in the city and make of Paris a capital good for everyone’s head and health.

Because we all dream of a greener city, this is this small step that takes us to a better city!
