In France, 2 million elderly people no longer have any contact with their loved ones*, and around 330,000 people live on the streets or in emergency accommodation**, so the holiday season is for some a time of great loneliness and psychological distress. That's why the December Together campaign is so essential.
How can you get involved as a volunteer?
Nothing could be simpler: go to JeVeuxAider.gouv.fr, choose the mission that's right for you, as close to home as possible or from a distance, for as long as you like, and take concrete action to shed light on the most invisible and share the spirit and warmth of Christmas with those who aren't fortunate enough to be surrounded! That's the strength of JeVeuxAider.gouv.fr: to enable massive mobilization across the country, where and when it's needed.
What's it like to volunteer with Décembre Ensemble?
We put the question to Hélène, a hospital volunteer with the association Tout le monde contre le cancer, who tells us:
"I found the experience unique, thanks to the richness of the exchanges with the patients, their always smiling welcome, and the kindness and professionalism of all the staff at the center where we worked...".
In concrete terms, December Together volunteer missions can be as follows:
- Organize a giant anti-gaspi soup
- Run a marauding campaign
- Distribute food aid
- Take part in a New Year's Eve fund-raising event
- Wrap gifts to raise funds...
In addition to encouraging the mobilization of volunteers across the country, the December Together campaign will feature
- 2 awareness-raising webinars with makesense and Emmaüs Solidarité: registration link
- 1 solidarity advent calendar to discover a different organization and way of taking action every day.
Ouvrez la fenêtre du jour par ici
- feedback from volunteers to inspire you and overcome your obstacles.
Close to home and even at a distance, each and every one of us can help keep social links alive.
