With Christmas just around the corner, Christmas trees and illuminations are making a comeback, and the Champs-Élysées are not missing a beat! Theinauguration of this year'silluminations took place on Sunday, November 24, 2024. The launch is usually attended by one or more celebrities acting as godparents, as well as the mayors of Paris and the 8th arrondissement. The launch was attended by Karl Lagerfeld, Lili-Rose Depp and Gilles Lellouche. After an enthusiastic countdown, they pressed a button together, and immediately the world's most beautiful avenue was decked out in lights. This year's kick-off was given by Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024.
And so, Parisians and tourists alike discover the lights that will illuminate the Champs-Elysées avenue this winter. These illuminations generally continue until the end of the first week of January, and last throughout the evening until midnight, with the exception of the evenings of December 24th and 31st, when the Champs-Elysées shine all night long.
The lights were recently installed by Blachère Illuminations, a company with an eco-responsible approach, and can be used for three to five seasons. A total of 400 trees are to be covered with garlands in the shape of balloon glass.
