Bicycle, king of confinement. As the bicycle sales are thriving as May 11th is coming, temporary bikeways start to develop everywhere in France. Said to be the alternative transportation mean the most used in France, many cities are starting to develop temporary bikeways in order to guarantee total safety to bicyclers.
It is the case in Ile-de-France and especially between La Défense, first European business district and the Porte Maillot, western Paris.

Tweet reads: “How great. We’re looking forward to seeing the extensions in Hauts-de-Seine. We’ll implement direct connections on our territory to join Paris La Défense and the City of Paris. Strikes and the health crisis were needed to put us back on bicycles.”
In more concrete words, this track will go along the Avenue Charles de Gaulle and cross Neuilly-sur-Seine and the Pont de Neuilly before joining La Défense. Fit on one of the most crowded roads in Île-de-France, this bikeway will be secured with marks on the ground and protection. A lane usually for cars has been removed.

Believing miscellaneous right mayor Jean-Christophe Fromentin interviewed on BFMTV, bicyclers wishing to head to the Esplanade de la Défense from the Porte Maillot in Paris can use this temporary bikeway from May 13th.
Good news for all those who will have to go back to work at La Défense starting from May 11th and who will choose bicycle as an alternative transportation mean. A way to unclog RER A and metro line 1, often crowded at peak hours.
For the record, Paris mayor also plans to set temporary bikeways in several strategic places in town. As for the Region Île-de-France, they are committing to the famous RER vélo network.
