Faced with the exponential growth of the coronavirus epidemic in some territories, the government chooses to extend local restrictions to the entire country. After instating a stricter lockdown in 16 departments from March 21, they have been extended – starting April 3 – to the entire country, including closure of schools and non-necessary stores – among others.
Trips must be justified with a derogatory trip certificate for any trip during curfew (from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.), and for trips between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. when exceeding 10-km around one’s house. Workouts and walks remain limited to a maximum radius of 10 kilometers, as the Prime Minister announced.

Yet, this Saturday March 20, Matignon stated the certificate was no longer mandatory during the day for trips within a 10km radius around one’s house. Two new certificates are now available. Yet, you will have to get a proof of address – such as an ID for instance. Four certificates are to be downloaded from the government’s website:
The derogatory trip certificate is available in the evening and night during curfew, valid “on the entire domestic territory” between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., as well as during the day beyond the 10-km radius.
The latest versions of the documents that are now very familiar are to be downloaded from the Secretary of the Interior’s website. They are also available on the Tous Anti Covid application.
Note a €135 fine – increased to €375 – can be issued in case of breaking the rules. In the event of repeat offense within two weeks, the fine increases to €200 – increased to €450 in the event of non-payment or non-protest within the period of time given on the ticket. Past 3 offenses in 30 days, the fine is increased to €3,750 liable to six months in jail.
