“The trend is clear, we are close to our goal, and this is good news”. In an interview with Le Parisien this Monday May 10, 2021, Prime Minister Jean Castex addressed the upcoming lockdown exit steps, as the second one is to start from May 19, 2021, as well as the overall health situation in France. The chief of government confirmed: “We finally are on the way out of this health crisis on a lasting basis”.
Of course, after over a year of difficult announcements, restrictions, and complications, Castex was happy as the future seems to get clearer. As for the lockdown exit and the exit of the health crisis, “of course, this exit has to be completed in a progressive, cautious, and supervised fashion”, the PM warns.
Yet, he repeats there are many positive news, advocating for the governmental measures on the same occasion. The lockdown exit calendar is a “balanced scheme” that “plans curbing measures in the event the epidemic situation locally strays off course”, he claims. Castex also recalled that the end of facemask-wearing was still not happening soon. “We’re not there yet”.
Facemask-wearing “could become a habit” especially in flu season, Castex thinks
As many people hope to be soon able to ditch facemask outside, the French Prime Minister thinks facemask-wearing “could undoubtedly become a natural protection means beyond Covid.
