Every month brings its own inflations and new rules. In this month of July 2024, we bring you a list of all the changes affecting the lives of Parisians and Ile-de-France residents. Savings, consumption and traffic, here's what's changing...

A new savings product aimed at young people, changes to the DPE for small surface areas, the entry into force of the decree on "reduflation" to better inform consumers... Find out about the main changes taking place in July 2024.

A new savings plan for young people

From July 1, people under the age of 21 will be able to benefit from the Plan d'Epargne Futur Climat. Introduced by the French Green Industry Act of October 23, 2023, this product aims to mobilize young people's savings in favor of the ecological transition. The plan can be opened as soon as the child is born, with a ceiling set at 22,950 euros, with funds frozen until the holder reaches the age of majority.

Tougher regulations to better inform consumers

From July 1, 2024, supermarkets will have to clearly indicate the upward trend in prices of FMCG products that have undergone a reduction in quantity. This practice, known as reduflation, consists of concealing the reduction in quantity of certain products while maintaining or increasing their price.

Tax: online tax return correction service opens

As of July 31, it will be possible to modify elements of the 2023 income tax return via the online correction service available at impots.gouv.fr. This service will remain open until December 4, 2024 inclusive.

Energy performance diagnostics (DPE) now available for small surface areas

As of July 1, the method of calculating the energy performance diagnosis (DPE ) for homes under 40m² will be modified. This reform will enable certain small properties to be removed from the category of "energy wasters". DPEs carried out between July 1, 2021 and July 1, 2024 may be reassessed.

Revised mobility payment rates

The " versement mobilité" (mobility payment), a contribution to the financing of public transport made by companies with at least 11 employees, has had its rates revised as of July 1. These new rates will apply in various communities of communes and agglomerations.

Gas prices rise on July 1

The French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE ) has announced an 11.7% rise in the benchmark natural gas sales price (PRVG) in July 2024, to an average level of €129.2/MWh incl. VAT. This increase is mainly due to the new distribution network tariff and higher wholesale gas prices.

Reform of rural revitalization zones comes into force

July 1 marks the entry into force of the reform of rural revitalization zones (ZRR), with the new "France Ruralités Revitalisation" zoning. This scheme is designed to boost the attractiveness of rural areas, enabling companies located in these zones to benefit from tax and social security exemptions.

Olympic lanes: new traffic restrictions

Reserved Olympic lanes for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will come into force on July 15. Intended for athletes, officials and media, these special lanes will extend over several Paris and Ile-de-France roads, including the ring road. Offenders will face fines, and it's crucial to respect these restrictions to avoid penalties.

Metro stations closed during the Olympic Games

Some metro stations will be closed during the Olympic Games for safety and logistical reasons. Users are invited to consult the RATP website for a list of the stations concerned, and to plan their journeys accordingly.

Ticket price increases

In the run-up to the Olympic Games, public transport fares in the Paris region will be increased. This measure is designed to support the increase in ridership and improve the infrastructure required for this global event.

These changes, which come into force this month, will have a significant impact on various aspects of daily life in the Paris region. To stay informed and adapt to these new regulations, we advise you to consult the official websites regularly.
