When you're on vacation, rental schedules and hotel room availability (and check-out) are often a source of annoyance. You'll need to work out a whole range of baggage logistics to make sure you don't lose a single crumb of your trip. Most hotels agree to keep suitcases behind the desk for a few hours, before and after your stay, but this isn't always ideal, as you're forced to stay within a restricted area. We've come up with a solution to give you the freedom to move around the city!
Of the 3,200 train stations in France, only 8 have lockers, including 6 in the capital. A temporary solution, even if the lockers are limited in size, the opening times not very flexible and the prices high.
Nannybag, the collaborative left-luggage service, is the perfect solution for your vacations! This start-up enables overcrowded travelers to leave their luggage in a safe place nearby. In Paris, more than 250 businesses - brasseries, independent hotels, bookshops, dry cleaners, gyms, souvenir stores, etc. - participate in the network.
Since its creation 5 years ago, Nannybag has already stored one million suitcases, and is now established in 40 countries. La Poste subsidiary Pickup has joined the Paris-based start-up's network, making it the French and European leader in luggage services for travelers.
"With 70,000 additional drop-off points, it's a huge prospect", says Mathieu Ballester, founder of Nannybag. He also intends to cover the whole of the capital: "The aim is to have an establishment every 500m, and close to every metro station". The most popular locations are around train stations and major cultural venues.
In practice, all you have to do on theNannybag app is choose your "nanny" using geolocation, and book the day and time for drop-off and pick-up. The cost is €6 per bag per day.
The start-up also supports its partner retailers, as the "nannies" are paid 50% for each reservation. The flow of travelers generates more traffic in their establishments, and greater visibility.
You'll have no excuse to stroll the streets of Paris!
