It's a new means of transport in the Paris region that we're really looking forward to! By 2025, Val-de-Marne residents should be able to hop aboard the very first cable car in the Paris region! Scheduled to fly over the towns of Créteil, Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Câble 1 (C1) is already raising many questions.
On June 22, Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) unveiled a prototype of the future cabins for Île-de-France's first cable car. An opportunity to discover their design and the services offered on board for future users!
" The C1 cableway stands out not only for its unique mode of transport. The search for innovation and the proposal of a new experience for users have also (and above all!) guided its creation " explains IDFM in a press release published on June 22. In consultation with the manufacturer (the Doppel France group), Île-de-France Mobilités has made it a point of honour to ensure that all cabins on this future aerial tramway (105 in all) are accessible to all, including people with reduced mobility, children in baby carriages and cyclists.
Inside, each cabin will offer 10 seats, with " priority seating, level access to stations (no stairs, no elevators, no escalators), screens displaying passenger information in real time, Braille and specific security devices (cameras, intercom) designed for C1 ", explains IDFM.
What about design? The design is intended to be " global, responsible and inclusive ". We remind you that the exterior design of the cabins was chosen by the people of Ile-de-France during a consultation launched in spring 2022. As for the future stations - the official names of which will be announced shortly - they will feature architecture specially designed to blend in with the urban environment, with " sober materials and green roofs ".
Ultimately, Câble 1 is designed to carry 1,600 people per hour per direction during rush hour, and will link Créteil to Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, covering a 4.5 km route and serving 5 stations.
In the meantime, IDFM explains that " the prototype will undergo further development before production of the first series begins in early 2024 ". The first trials are scheduled for the first half of 2025.
