What names have been given to the 5 future stations of Câble C1, the first cable car in the Val-de-Marne region, due to open in 2025? After consultation with the mayors of the four communes through which the cable car will pass, Île-de-France Mobilités has finally revealed the final names chosen for the 5 future stops. Here they are!

Although it's not due to go into service until 2025, it's a means of public transport in the Paris region that's already causing quite a stir. Câble C1, the first cable car in the Paris region, will soon link Créteil to Villeneuve-Saint-Georges in Val-de-Marne in just 17 minutes.

Although construction work has already begun, many people are now wondering what the names of the five future stops on this Île-de-France cable car will be.

Last spring, Île-de-France mobilités (IDFM) had not yet decided. But, as revealed by Le Parisien, the mayors of the four communes crossed by this new means of transport - Créteil, Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges - had put forward their proposals in a letter to IDFM. As the daily newspaper, which had been able to consult this letter, pointed out, the final word would rest with the transport syndicate. This has now been done. Île-de-France Mobilités has made its decision and, in a press release published on October 9, 2023, unveiled the official names of the 5 future Cable C1 stations.

But what are they? As far as the Créteil stop is concerned, there's no suspense. It retains its name in connection with its interconnection with the terminus of metro line 8, and is therefore called the " Pointe-du-Lac " station."Like all connections, it will keep its original name to make it easier for passengers to understand and get around," states IDFM in this press release.

For the other four stops, the name was not so simple. For, as IDFM points out, each name depends on several " recommendations ", such as the name of the commune or a nearby landmark, but also the name of the district served, a park or a cultural, sporting or tourist venue.

In the end, Île-de-France Mobilités had to decide. For the second stop on the C1 Cable in Limeil-Brévannes - provisionally named " Temps Durables " - the mobility authority for the Île-de-France region opted for the station " Limeil-Brévannes-Plage Bleue ", as this stop serves the Parc Départemental de la Plage Bleue,"a magnificent green space with its own lake", explains IDFM.

What about the station formerly known as " Émile-Zola " in Valenton? This third stop on Cable C1 will be called " Valenton - Le Château " and will serve the Château de Valenton, a historic site scheduled to reopen to the public in 2025.

The fourth station, provisionally called " Émile Combes ", will be renamed " La Végétale - La Fontaine Saint-Martin ". As a reminder, this station will be located at the heart of the urban green corridor project. It will also serve the new Fontaine Saint-Martin intercommunal sports facility.

Finally, the temporary " Bois Matar " stop in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges will become the " Villa Nova " stop. The terminus of the Cable C1 ring road, the " Villa Nova " station refers to"the Gallo-Roman name of the commune, when it was renowned for its many vineyards", explains IDFM.
