While cabs will be able to drive on it during the competition, drivers of chauffeur-driven transport vehicles (VTC) will have to do without, on nearly 185 kilometers of roads in and around Paris.
The national VTC union (INV) explains that "public institutions justify these measures by the lack of regulation in our sector, exacerbated by the arrival of more than 60,000 new drivers, often part-time, and the proliferation of mafia networks fraudulently exploiting the chauffeur profession" . According to Brahim Ben Ali, General Secretary of the INV, the collective is calling for the introduction of a numerus clausus to regulate false profiles and enable a healthier profession.
