Will Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo finally bathe in the Seine, as promised? It seems so, the week of July 15, 2024, as she announced at a press conference.

There are no sharks in the Seine, yet Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo has already postponed swimming in the river several times, initially scheduled for June 23 and then June 30. At a press conference on Wednesday June 19, she announced that she would be keeping her promise, with a new date after the Fête Nationale. It will therefore be on July 15, 16 or 17, 2024,"depending on the weather", which we hope will be largely sunny by then.

This long-anticipated plunge into the Parisian river had been postponed due to heavy rainfall in May, which made the water too dirty for a dip, but also because the flow of the Seine was too great. Then came the results of the European elections and Emmanuel Macron's announcement of the dissolution of the National Assembly, calling for legislative elections, and bathing was no longer a priority for the mayor.

But the swim must take place before the Paris Olympic Games, during which athletes will have to swim in the Seine in the triathlon and marathon swimming events.
