On December 5, 2017, Johnny Hallyday passed away at the age of 74. Four days later, a huge and vibrant popular tribute was paid to him in Paris. As thousands gathered along the route, the convoy made its way down the Champs-Élysées avenue, surrounded by 700 motorcyclists, before crossing the Place de la Concorde and reaching the Madeleine church.
For the occasion, numerous personalities from the worlds of politics, music and cinema were present in the building. They included Jean Reno, Line Renaud, Dany Boon, Patrick Bruel, Jean Dujardin, Vincent Lindon, Michael Youn, Nathalie Baye, Pascal Obispo, Sylvie Vartan, and rock priest Guy Gilbert.
7 years after his death, Johnny Hallyday fans have not forgotten him, and are planning to pay tribute to their idol once again. As reported by BFMTV, a ceremony is scheduled to take place in Paris on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Organized by Desperados, the motorcycle club co-founded by Johnny Hallyday in 1992, the event will be held at theÉglise de la Madeleine, where the 2017 popular tribute was held. The event will take place on the church's forecourt, with a gathering in memory of the legendary French singer.
Then, at around 12pm, the tribute will continue in the Église de la Madeleine, with a musical mass on the program. Actor Didier Gustin has confirmed his presence on social networks. The impersonator and comedian will be starring in"Johnny Libre dans ma tête", a play performed for a few days in January 2025 at the Théâtre de Passy.
