After the pedestrianization of the Paris embankment, the reduction of the speed limit on Paris streets and the ring road, the introduction of a ZTLin the city center and the restriction of access to crit'Air 3 vehicles, the various measures taken in recent years by the City of Paris have reduced the role of the car in the capital. And there's more to come: this Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo intends to use the end of her term of office to speed up other projects aimed at advancing the French capital's ecological transition.
As she presented her new year's greetings to the capital's elected representatives, Anne Hidalgo outlined the roadmap for the coming year. By 2025, 120 pedestrianization and greening projects should be completed in Paris. The Mayor of Paris also intends to pursue the bicycle plan, with the creation of new cycle paths, a reduction in parking spaces in the capital and the perpetuation of the Paris 2024 lane set up on the Paris ring road during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The aim? To make it dedicated to carpooling.
