Usually, it's a season eagerly awaited by many. But it's also dreaded by others. Summer may be synonymous with vacations for some, but it's also a time of stress for many Parisian public transport users. During the off-peak period, work on several metro and RER lines is stepped up, inevitably causing traffic disruption. Such is the case on metro line 9. As announced by RATP,"improvements to the train control system on metro line 9" will result in the complete closure of the line from 10.45pm on Monday August 4 to Friday August 8, 2025 inclusive.
Other worksites will also impact train traffic, such as on RER line C. For many years now, this has unfortunately become a habit for users of this RER line. Every summer, maintenance and modernization work causes long interruptions to traffic. As revealed by our colleagues in Le Parisien and France 3 Paris Île-de-France, work is about to resume on RER line C, which will be facing major disruptions this summer.
For the time being, we don't yet know the detailed timetable for these major summer works on the RER C line. But Île-de-France mobilités (IDFM) has confirmed to France 3 Paris Île-de-France the dates of these future traffic disruptions. Traffic on RER line C is likely to be disrupted for 6 consecutive weeks, as in 2023. According to France 3, work is scheduled to start on July 15 and end on August 23, 2025.
But which sections will be affected? Again according to France 3, trains will not be running between Versailles and Paris during this extended period. No RER C trains between Avenue Henri Martin andErmont Eaubonne. No trains either on the section between Massy Palaiseau and Pont de Rungis. So it's going to be another difficult summer for RER C users. Please note that the detailed schedule for this summer's work on RER line C should be unveiled at the end of the month. So stay tuned for more details!
