The Grande Roue de Paris is about to leave the Place de la Concorde in Paris! No matter if youb are young or grown-up or where you come from, you want to take a ride on the Grande Roue and before May 18, 2018!
Why so? Simply because the city of lights deserves its nickname even better when seen from the sky. Aboard one the 42 gondolas (including one providing access to disabled guests), the Grande Roue offers a 70-meter high breathtaking view over the Champs Elysées, the Tuileries and up to the Louvre!
Paris City Hall doesn't wish to renew the lease of Grande Roue owner Marcel Campion.
What a shame because this Ferris Wheel has been part of Christmas setting for 23 years. Marcel Campion said: "Back in winter 1993-1994 Jacques Chirac approved my intention to build a Ferris wheel on the Place de la Concorde" explains Marcel Campion, "This idea created a worldwide following. Because of this, similar wheels popped up in 127 cities across the world including 80 permanent wheels." Since then, the Mairie de Paris allows the wheel to be up for three months.
Riding the wheel gives you a unique view over the Champs-Elysées, the Tuileries up to the Louvre and you can go as many times as you want and for free, but for 3 days only, from May 16 to 18, 2018, the 18th being the last day before the Grande Roue de Paris disappears.
