In front of the Petit Château de Sceaux, two of the most sought-after violists of the new Baroque guard offer an immersion into the mysterious world of the viola da gamba. This instrument, still little known to the general public, is back in the spotlight thanks to young musicians keen to rediscover the sound accuracy of the Baroque period. Valentin Tournet and Natalia Timofeeva perform works by Diego Ortiz, Thomas Ford, Tobias Hume, William Young, Marin Marais, Sieur Demachy and Messieurs de Sainte-Colombe, père et fils. They take listeners into the light and shade of duets for two violas esgales: a fascinating universe of color and lyricism, from exalted dances to inner complaints, where the music touches the heart with its poetry and perfection.
