The staple White Night is back this Saturday October 2, 2021 in Paris and Île-de-France. On the occasion, many installations will be unveiled for free. Although the Paris Philharmonie will throw a five-show music marathon, for instance, a bit further south, a light and sound installation will light up the Bois de Vincennes from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Called “Gyrotope”, this work has been designed by Pablo Valbuena whose work mostly relies on space, time and perception. Some key elements in his work are the overlapping between real and virtual, the dissolution of the borders between reality and perception, and even links between time and space.
Artistic order placed by the Société du Grand Paris, “Gyrotope” is a large circle made of columns creating a sculptural volume deployed in time and space through intangible and ephemeral elements such as light and sound. Through this installation, artist Pablo Valbuena invites viewers to enjoy an experience based on the perception of movement. This work is both an object and an environment depending on how you look at it: from the inside, the outside, or at the border.
