The Musée Delacroix honors history's most famous couple: Romeo and Juliet. For Valentine's Day 2020, discover their story through a painting by Eugène Delacroix, presented throughout the day by museum staff. On February 14, join us at the museum for a page of romantic history.

Who better than Romeo and Juliet to symbolize love on this February 14, 2020? For Valentine's Day, the Musée national Eugène Delacroix is offering an all-day focus on Delacroix's painting Romeo and Juliet at the Tomb of the Capulets. Museum staff take us through the work, on display in the artist's bedroom.

Romeo embraces Juliet, totally gripped by a despair that will lead to his death and Juliet's - this time real - death. The story of Verona 's two lovers has spanned the centuries and travelled the world. In Paris, the painter Eugène Delacroix drew inspiration from it to create a painting, on display at the Musée national Eugène Delacroix. For Valentine's Day, the museum is offering us the chance to rediscover William Shakespeare's mythical play, a love story for lovers.

Join us in the bedroom of Delacroix's last apartment, to listen to the story told by museum staff. To extend your cultural stroll with your loved ones, enjoy a free visit to the Heart exhibition at the Musée de la Vie Romantique, or head to the Jeu de Paume for a special Valentine's evening.
