Is the Musée de la Vie Romantique the perfect place to celebrate Valentine's Day? Certainly, the name lends itself well to the general mood of lovers' day. But the museum has much more to offer than just a word: on Friday February 14, 2020, it presents its new exhibition, Hearts, Romanticism in Contemporary Art. And to celebrate this special day, admission to the exhibition is free for all!
On Valentine's Day, it's customary to book a table in a good restaurant, buy a gift or flowers. In 2020, dare to be original and organize an outing to the museum with your partner(s). But don't sacrifice the spirit of love and tenderness that's the order of the day. At the Musée de la Vie Romantique, you can wander among paintings and sculptures that show the heart in all its forms.
Theexhibition brings together some forty contemporary works. The artists tell the story of the heart and what runs through it, sometimes drawing inspiration from the masters of the Romantic period. In this collection of paintings, photos and sculptures of all kinds, we find something to redefine our notion oflove, and perhaps make it more beautiful.
Don't overlook the Pavillon des collections permanentes either: the museum team has put on display four jewelled hearts that once belonged to George Sand, as well as a large woven heart byAgatha Ruiz de la Prada. Don't miss the photo booth in the courtyard, where you can take a (free) souvenir of the day.
In the evening, a variety of events are on offer: in the exhibition, from 7 to 10 p.m., the Passion Passion company dances among the works. In the atelier-salon, Anne Baquet and Isabelle Grandet sing love songs between 5:30 and 7:30 pm, while DJJaune offers a pop session in the museum courtyard from 7:30 pm to 10 pm.
In 2020, celebrate your love at the Musée de la Vie Romantique, or even at the Musée Rodin. Of course, for those who also love food, book a table at one of Paris' most romantic restaurants or consult our guide to the best restaurants. Happy Valentine's Day to art lovers and lovers everywhere!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
