If you've never heard of Thoma Vuille, you're undoubtedly familiar with Mr. Chat. Behind this iconic cat, well known to street art enthusiasts, lies an artist, in this case Thoma Vuille. A French-Swiss painter born in the canton of Neuchâtel, Thoma Vuille produced his first urban acrylic works when he was just 15 years old. The emblematic character of M. CHAT was later created on the streets of Orléans.
Since then, this cheerful, benevolent figure has invaded the streets of many other cities, each time with a smile that makes us smile in return. Thoma Vuille 's mythical yellow cat can now be seen on the streets of Rennes, Nantes, Paris, New York, Hong Kong, Seoul and Dakar, as well as in Germany, England, Japan and Italy.
From December 5, 2024 to January 17, 2025, the Galerie Brugier-Rigail, located in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, is devoting a new exhibition to Thoma Vuille and his legendary Mr. Chat! Baptised"M. Chat : Origine(s) Vandale(s)", this free, personal exhibition takes us on a journey through the streets of several cities, following the artist's Cat through some twenty works, mainly acrylics on canvas. We find him on the rooftops of Paris, on the edge of a bridge or in Villeurbanne, each time with unrivalled generosity.
Thoma Vuille 's staging of his favorite feline invites us to contemplate and meditate on our humanity and the challenges of our times.
From December 5, 2024 to January 17, 2025, visit Galerie Brugier-Rigail to smile and think along with Mr. Chat.
