Artist Edward Hutabarat invites us to follow in his footsteps: embark on a fabulous journey to Indonesia, to discover Indonesian culture and craftsmanship. Take part in this adventure by admiring the free exhibition Indonesia at the Carrousel du Louvre, organized from November 28, 2023 to January 8, 2024.
Indonesian fashion designer Edward Hutabarat is best known for his designs that combine modernity with traditional techniques and motifs. These fabrics, charged with history, emotions and symbols, also tell of the culture and traditions of their wearers.
The artist therefore went to meet the artisans who make these very special fabrics and outfits: through 22 photographs, we discover the beauty, richness and extraordinary skills that have been passed down from generation to generation. And what better setting to showcase these creations than Borobudur?
Edward Hutabarat also shows us different photographs of the world's largest Buddhist temple, an emblem of Indonesia and a Unesco World Heritage treasure. The contrasts in light, the colors, the motifs, the thousands of details, the centuries-old history that hovers around this temple and its creators: each shot fascinates us with the story it tells.
Come and discover Eward Hutabarat's Indonesia on your next visit to the Carrousel du Louvre!
