"It's certainly one of the strongest adventures I've had the chance to experience"... That's how Guillaume Canet talks aboutEdouard Bergeon's film Au nom de la terre, in which he plays the lead role and which hits cinemas on September 25, 2019. The film takes a hard-hitting look at 40 years of farming in France, and a sector that has been in difficulty for decades.
The film is inspired by a true story, that of the director himself, his childhood on the family farm and his father. In addition to Guillaume Canet, the cast includes Veerle Beatens(Tu ne tueras point, Duelles...), Anthony Bajon(Rodin, Merveille à Montfermeil...), Rufus(Bienvenue à Marly-Gomont, Knock...), Samir Guesmi(Le Transporteur : Héritage, Les Fantômes d'Ismaël...) and Yona Kervern, making her first film here.
Our opinion on Au Nom de la Terre (2019):
Edouard Bergeon hits the nail on the head with his poignant and moving film Au nom de la terre, masterfully interpreted by Guillaume Canet at the height of his talent.
It's a heavy, profoundly true story, aptly interpreted both in the moments of joy shared with the family and in the phases of distress. You're carried away by the story of thousands of farmers in France. They try to provide for their families and fight every day to give their children a better future.
All in all, Au nom de la terre is a striking and touching film, a must-see.
