After 'But who killed Pamela Rose?', 'Lend me your hand', 'The Man who wanted to live his life' or'The Unfaithful' without forgetting 'The Aries Family', Eric Lartigau presented us in 2020 his new film. Entitled '#JeSuisLà', this romantic comedy features Alain Chabat as a divorced chef who arrives in Seoul to meet a mysterious woman contacted on Instagram. Obviously, nothing will happen as planned ... The film is broadcast on television, this Sunday, April 16, 2023, on France 2.
For this new feature film, Eric Lartigau finds the inevitable Alain Chabat, 13 years after'Lend me your hand'. At his side, the French director has bet on the actress Doona Bae, notably revealed by the series Sense8, but also on Blanche Gardin ('Selfie') and Jules Sagot.

Review:
From the beginning of the film, the pace is rather slow due to Stephane's peaceful and uneventful life. But his daily discussions with Soo through social networks add some interest to the story and arouse curiosity: will it lead to a love story? Will his unsuspecting relatives find out why Stephane suddenly changes his behavior? Will Stephane finally meet Soo?
When Stephane decides on a whim to go to Korea to finally meet her, we think it's the beginning of a great adventure...but finally not. The scenario runs out of steam quite quickly, the rhythm becomes slower and slower, letting the story go in circles. The idea of the scenario is good but under-exploited and lacking dynamism.
Nevertheless, Alain Chabat embodies very well this character in full questioning, in the discovery of himself and of a new world.
