It exists since 1912! But it is only in 1926, it has been named Studio des Ursulines. This avant-garde arthouse movie theater is one of the first to screen Japanese or German movies at this time. And since 2003, Studio des Ursulines has found a new calling: educating the youngest to cinema. It has been 18 years now screenings are mostly devoted to a young audience. Through school sessions, the movie theater hosts short-movie or animated movie screening usually targeting children from 3 to 9. These screenings are followed by chats enabling to explain children how cinema works.
In addition to introductory sessions, Studio des Ursulines also houses cine-club for high schoolers. In addition to movies specialized in a young audience, the movie theater also screens national and exclusive releases on the silver screen. Furthermore, some movies are still screened thanks to a 35mm reel when possible. Or they are screened in the classic digital format.
Set on rue des Ursulines, the movie theater is set in the middle of the 5th arrondissement, an old district in Paris, genuine temple of independent cinema, surrounded by historic places. Within 7 minutes by foot stand the Luxembourg garden, where you fill also find the Senate and Le Choupinet, a new brasserie across the park. And within 9 minutes by foot, visit the Panthéon, the monument where major characters who marked the history of France are buried. Note that by the Panthéon also stands a movie theater and a bar-restaurant. In other words, the district provides a lot to do!
