Corsage, the biopic of Sissi the Empress starring Vicky Krieps: the trailer

Sissi the Empress is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating historical personalities, and the cinema has examined her story on numerous occasions. In 2022, Austrian director Marie Kreutzer, who is relatively unknown in France, has signed a new biopic, Corsage, due in cinemas on December 14, 2022. In the title role is actress Vicky Krieps, seen in Old, Bergman Island and Phantom Thread.

It's an opportunity for Gaspard Ulliel 's latest companion to shine once again in a strong role, her specialty. She is joined by Florian Teichtmeister, Katharina Lorenz and Jeanne Werner. Corsage is undoubtedly one of this winter's most eagerly awaited films.

Corsage synopsis

Christmas 1877, Elisabeth of Austria (Sissi) celebrates her 40th birthday. First Lady of Austria, wife of Emperor Franz Joseph I, she is not allowed to express herself and must remain forever the beautiful young empress. To meet these expectations, she follows a rigorous regime of fasting, exercise, hairstyles and daily waist measurements. Stifled by these conventions, hungry for knowledge and life, Elisabeth increasingly rebels against this image.
