In Le Parfum Vert, Vincent Lacoste and Sandrine Kiberlain team up to investigate a mysterious organization. The film airs this Saturday, July 15 at 10:30pm on Canal+.
When presenting the film at the Directors' Fortnight, director Nicolas Pariser confessed to having had Tintin in mind throughout the creation of his film, right down to the title, which could very well have been that of an album from the cult comic strip. However, there's no reporter or captain in Le Parfum Vert, just a female cartoonist (another nod to the art form), played by Sandrine Kiberlain, and an actor, played by Vincent Lacoste.
Colorful, light-hearted but not without gravity, often funny and always very clever, Le Parfum Vert is the comedy of the end of the year. The film begins when an actor is murdered on stage at the Comédie-Française, in the middle of a performance. His last words:"I've been poisoned, the Parfum Vert." Martin (Vincent Lacoste), one of the troupe's actors and a direct witness to the murder, begins to be hunted down by the mysterious organization that ordered the killing. With the help of a comic book artist, Claire, Martin sets out to unravel the mystery of this violent death during an eventful trip to Europe.
A zany film where the balance between suspense and laughter is always perfectly maintained, Le Parfum Vert is also served by a brilliant cast. It's clear that Nicolas Pariser, best known for Alice et le Maire, is fully committed to this project, in which he has great faith. What stands out in the film is the commitment of these three - Pariser, Kiberlain and Lacoste - who make the project extremely attractive.
