After conquering theaters in May 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the final installment in the James Gunn-directed trilogy, arrives on Disney+ on October 4, 2024. Mixing humor, emotion and interstellar battles, this action-sci-fi film sees Chris Pratt (Peter Quill), Zoe Saldaña (Gamora) and Dave Bautista (Drax) reprise their iconic roles for a crucial mission. With Peter still mourning the loss of Gamora, the Guardians must unite one last time to protect the universe and save one of their own, in an explosive adventure that could well mark the end of the team as we know it.

In this third installment of Guardians of the Galaxy, the team is more scattered than ever. Peter Quill, still devastated by Gamora's death, tries to rebuild his team for a desperate mission: to defend the universe against a new threat and protect one of the Guardians' members. But this time, the stakes are high, and failure could spell the definitive end of the Guardians as we've known them. Between moments of comedy, spectacular action scenes and poignant relationships, this film offers an epic conclusion to the beloved trilogy.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is for all Marvel and sci-fi fans, but also for those who have followed the evolution of the characters since their first adventures in 2014. The franchise's trademark blend of humor, emotion and epic battles is once again on display, with a final touch marked by a strong emotional stakes. The film also explores deeper themes of grief, redemption and friendship, setting it apart from its predecessors. If you enjoyed films like Avengers: Infinity War or Thor: Ragnarok, you'll be won over by this ultimate Guardians adventure.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 marks the end of an era for Marvel's cosmic universe, with a film that is both moving and spectacular. Available on Disney+ from October 4, 2024, this latest installment is the perfect opportunity to dive back into the Guardians universe and experience their last great adventure. Don't miss this intergalactic rendezvous, which promises to bring one of the most beloved trilogies in the Marvel universe to a fitting close.
Our review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023):
After the events ofAvengers: Endgame, the Guardians of the Galaxy team is decimated, Gamora is back, but without her memories, and Quill is at rock bottom. The introduction is therefore bitter, and a lovely sequence shot on the Radiohead song Creep makes this clear. This third installment focuses on one of the gang's secondary characters, Rocket, whose horrible past we discover.
These flashbacks are the film's best scenes. Moving, even heartbreaking, these passages are the real originality of this third installment, which puts Rocket's character at the center of the plot. Otherwise, it's true that director James Gunn repeats the formula that made the first two installments such a success: space battles, down-and-out characters, humor and monsters of all kinds... the quality is certainly there, but the magic doesn't really work anymore... All the more so as Marvel has been missing the mark for several years now. Vol.3 may be the best Marvel book of the new saga, but we're no longer thrilled by the adventures of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
On the other hand, it's technically flawless, unlike most Marvel productions. Whether it's the sets, the special effects or simply the direction, James Gunn proves once again that he's the best filmmaker the MCU has ever seen.
Finally, it's a chance to discover some new characters. We won't spoil anything, but there are several antagonists in the film, but not all of them are equal. The character ofAdam Warlock is a little disappointing, as is the promise of a tragic ending that Marvel has been selling us for several weeks. Incidentally, it's amusing to note the liberties the film takes with scientific rules: it's astonishing to see certain characters emerge unscathed from an unprotected passage through space.
In short, it's a movie that's sure to please fans, but we're glad it stopped there, so the trilogy avoids one movie too many.
